Welcome to Wild Lantern Studio's inaugural blog post! We are thrilled to share our journey with you and grateful for your interest in our new venture. As one of our early supporters, we want to express our appreciation for joining us on this exciting adventure.
My name is Johana, and I am proud to introduce myself as the founder of this new indie game studio. As a woman and mother in the game development industry, I'm excited to bring a fresh perspective to our team's creative endeavors. At Wild Lantern, we aspire to create games that inspire and empower underrepresented groups in the industry. I'm honored to share this journey with you and look forward to connecting with each of you along the way.
At Wild Lantern, we take exceptional care in crafting experiences that feel incredibly enriching to the player.
Our studio is currently focused on developing a puzzle adventure game prototype called "The Bunny Maze" with light combat mechanics. We envision the future of Wild Lantern Studio as a blend of various RPG genres with 2D platform mechanics and survival mechanics, creating unique gameplay experiences for our players. Our passion lies in combining cute aesthetics with gothic architecture and horror undertones, creating an atmosphere that is both whimsical and mysterious.
At Wild Lantern, we take exceptional care in crafting experiences that feel incredibly enriching to the player. My main goal is to become a self-funded studio so that I can make this my full-time job and even hire others. In the meantime, I'm studying, persevering, and consistently creating prototypes and developing.
I'm thrilled to have completed my first ever prototype, which is now ready for testing and feedback. Although some may think it's premature to launch a new studio with limited work experience, this moment coincides with significant personal achievements, including quitting my job, overcoming a deep depression, and attending GDC (Game Developers Conference) for the first time. Despite the seemingly impulsive decision, with all these significant life events aligning, it feels like the perfect moment to embark on this exciting journey!
While I'm undecided about whether to continue the project I prototyped, it feels like it has the potential to be the very first game we publish this year! I'm eagerly waiting to see what the feedback will be as I continue to grow as a developer and with my studio.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Wild Lantern Studio. We hope to excite you about our journey, and we invite you to follow us on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date on our development. Feel free to send me a personal note and say hi! We appreciate your support and look forward to sharing our progress with you.
